A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Belair United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Johnny Duncan officiating. Born in Greenwood, Mr. Duncan was a son of the late Johnson William Duncan and Sadie Hinton Duncan. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; and was a member of the Eli Bailes American Legion Post No. 43 for more than 50 years, was a lifetime member of the (Fort Mill)V.F.W. and was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1240. Mr. Duncan was retired from Celanese. He was a member of the Belair United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Corene Gibson Duncan; three daughters, Brenda Crawford and her husband, James, of Winston-Salem, N.C., Ronda Ratliff and her husband, Ron, of Charlotte and Glenda Redmon and her husband, Tommy, of Nashville; two brothers, Glenn Duncan of Enid, Oklahoma and Jerry Duncan of Greenwood ; four sisters, Reba Alexander of Charlotte, Barbara Bookout of Charlotte, Norma Pierce of McDonough, Ga., Elma Branch of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Kennedy, Kristin, Emily, Randy, Joshua and Makayla; and four great-grandchildren, Natilee, Corvin, Justice and Mckenzie. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Wolfe Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lancaster, 902 West Meeting Street, Lancaster, SC 29720; or to Belair U.M.C. Building Fund, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, Indian Land, SC 29707.
